Support Kelley Williams-Bolar

National Action Network, an organization committed to civil rights and social justice for all people, commends Supreme Court Justice Carol Berkman for sentencing Tony Simmons to the maximum possible punishment for taking advantage of vulnerable young women while in his custody. NAN was active in this case and rallied with organizations to shed light upon abuses in the criminal justice system.

This sentencing gives voice to those young women who felt voiceless and ashamed for being raped while trusting in a system designed to protect them.

I hope that in the future, young women who may find themselves in what they think is a hopeless situation, will now know that their rights as young women will always be protected.
