Statement from Rev. Sharpton regarding grand jury dismissal of criminal charges against officers involved in Philadelphia beating

“I consider the findings of the local Philadelphia grand jury outrageous and we are calling for a federal grand jury to review the case. From the beginning, the family of Dwayne Dyches expressed a lack of confidence in local grand jury proceedings and in the same way we had to go to a federal jury in the Rodney King and Abner Louima cases, we will pursue a federal grand jury in this case. The fact that the Police Commissioner fired four of the police officers for their actions indicates a federal grand jury should review the case for possible civil rights violations”
