Rev. Sharpton to use his role as Guest Host of WWE’s Monday Night Raw to push the issue of Education Reform

Sep 22, 2009

On Monday, September 28th, Rev. Sharpton will guest host WWE’s Monday Night Raw as he uses the unique forum to push education reform. In the past, elected officials and leaders have used WWE as a conduit to promote credible issues, and in fact, on the eve of the Pennsylvania primary, Presidential candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton, Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain each appeared on Monday Night RAW. Each candidate stated his/her case why they should be elected president.

It is in that vain that Reverend Sharpton will use WWE Monday Night Raw to promote the issue of education reform and the tour that Rev. Sharpton, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and United States Education Secretary Arne Duncan will lead across the country. The tour will kick off the morning after Rev. Sharpton appears on WWE’s Monday Night Raw. The tour, an outgrowth of their meeting with President Obama last spring, will include school visits, stakeholder meetings and media briefings. The goal of the tour is to stimulate discussion and community engagement around issues of education reform. Other stops scheduled include New Orleans, Baltimore and more.
