“National Action Network has continuously stressed the importance of ending the cradle to the prison pipeline. I was pleased to attend the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights Hearing addressing this very topic that affects African Americans and Latinos at disproportionate rates. This important first step acknowledges the system that leads so many of our young people to interact with the juvenile justice system for minor discipline problems instead of addressing the root cause of the problem and allowing these students to flourish. National Action Network looks forward to working with the Departments of Justice and Education as well as Congress to find solutions that will end this egregious and unjust system.”
