TOMORROW: REV. SHARPTON TO STAND WITH 100 BLACK MEN OF AMERICA AS THEY PICKET BILL ACKMAN’S OFFICE

Civil rights leader to call on NY Fed to remove Ackman from key investor committee

NEW YORK, NY (January 17, 2024) – Rev. Al Sharpton, President and Founder of the National Action Network (NAN), will continue to lead NAN’s weekly picket outside the office of hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman in protest of his deceitful pressure campaign against Claudine Gay and fight against DEI. Standing alongside 100 Black Men of America, Rev. Sharpton will call on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to remove Bill Ackman from the Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets, which advises the New York Fed on financial, economic, and public policy matters.

“Bill Ackman doesn’t believe that a Black woman can possible have the skill and talent needed to lead an Ivy League school, but the callous attacks he’s leveled against DEI clearly show that he doesn’t have the necessary judgment to have any kind of role in advising on policy,” said Rev. Sharpton. “The way he has carried himself on social media clearly shows he is against diversity in the workplace. I am calling on the New York Fed to reconsider whether he is the kind of person who should be advising them on anything that impacts our nation.”
