TODAY: REV. SHARPTON TO JOIN MAYOR ADAMS, NYC JEWISH LEADERS TO CONDEMN FATAL WASHINGTON, D.C. SHOOTING OF TWO ISRAELI EMBASSY WORKERS
—
NEW YORK, NY (May 22, 2025) — Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will join Mayor Eric Adams and leaders from New York City’s Jewish community in Lower Manhattan at 12 p.m. today to condemn last night’s fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy employees outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.
This afternoon’s press conference at the Center for Jewish History will condemn anti-semitism and all forms of violence. The two employees, who were reportedly a couple set to become engaged, were shot outside a reception at the Capital Jewish Museum around 9 p.m. last night.
The united stand continues action Rev. Sharpton and Mayor Adams have taken alongside a broad coalition of faith leaders in and around America’s most diverse city. In February 2024, they stood together at City Hall with members of the Haitian diaspora to call on the federal government to provide more aid to the embattled nation. Five months later, they returned to City Hall to once again condemn violence after the assassination attempt on President Trump a day earlier.
Rev. Sharpton has consistently urged for a ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict, equally condemning Hamas’ October 7th terror attack as well as the Netanyahu government’s subsequent actions in Gaza.
