THURSDAY: REV. SHARPTON, NAN LEAD MAJOR COALITION AGAINST TRUMP’S ANTI-DEI CAMPAIGN IN MARCH ON WALL STREET

Aug 25, 2025

Demonstration Comes as Trump Threatens More Takeovers of Black-Led Cities after Unprecedented Actions in Washington, D.C.

NEW YORK, NY (August 25, 2025) – In response to Donald Trump’s unrelenting attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion, Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network will convene the March on Wall Street in New York this Thursday with a major coalition of civil rights, clergy, and labor leaders. The importance of this demonstration has only grown as the federal government threatens more takeovers of Black-led cities after the unprecedented National Guard deployment in Washington, D.C.

This Thursday, we will march from the African Burial Ground to the heart of the Financial District to remind Donald Trump the power of Black Americans and their dollars.”

The March will kick off at 10 a.m. ET in Foley Square, at Duane Street between Federal Plaza and Center Street, just across the street from the African Burial Ground — the largest known resting place of enslaved and freed Africans. Foley Square also stands next to 26 Federal Plaza, where ICE agents have rampantly arrested migrants during appearances before immigration courts. From there, the march will proceed down Broadway, past the Charging Bull structure that has over the last 40 years become synonymous with Wall Street. The demonstration will culminate at Whitehall Street (between Bridge and Pearl Streets) with a speaking program. The three leading candidates for New York City Mayor — incumbent Eric Adams, Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani, and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo — are among those expected to march.

In the hours after Trump was sworn into his second term, he signed an executive order demanding an end to DEI policies within the federal government. Those have since been followed by:
