Rev. Sharpton to Host Family Of 1-Year-Old Davell Gardner at NAN Saturday Action Rally & Deliver Eulogy at his Funeral Monday

(New York, NY July 24, 2020) – Civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of National Action Network (NAN), will welcome the family of 1-year-old Davell Gardner at NAN headquarters for its weekly rally Saturday, July 25th. The toddler was attending a barbecue at Raymond Bush Playground in Bedford-Stuyvesant to celebrate his mother’s new home when two gunmen opened fire. He was hit in the stomach and died at the hospital.

Rev. Sharpton will then join the family of Davell Gardner on Monday, July 27th to deliver the eulogy at his homegoing service. Davell’s senseless death comes at a time when the NYPD says shootings rose 276% compared to this time last year. Of the more than 50 shootings this month, 10 of them were minors.
