New York, NY (February 11, 2025) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will appear at a special event hosted by the Yale Political Union, where he will lead a discussion on the necessity of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the face of mounting political and corporate pushback.
Rev. Sharpton’s address Tuesday follows a series of high profile demonstrations by NAN in support of Costco Wholesale and other corporations that have stood by their commitments to DEI despite the political pressure. Earlier this month, Rev. Sharpton held a “buy-cott” of Costco’s East Harlem location, leading more than 200 NAN members to the warehouse to show their support for the company by shopping. This was followed by similar demonstrations by NAN at Costco locations across the county.
Rev. Sharpton announced on MLK Day that NAN will lead a strategic boycott in the next 90 days of two companies that have dropped their DEI commitments amid public pressure.
