Rev. Al Sharpton & NAN to Host Martin Luther King Day Events in Washington, New York, New Jersey, & Across the Country

Featuring former President Bill Clinton, prominent civil rights leaders, and elected officials, events will reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and seek to build bridges in wake of national rise in hate crimes

Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN) will welcome prominent elected officials and civil rights leaders at events all over the country on Monday, January 20 to honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and address how it can be protected in the age of Donald Trump. NAN chapters across the United States will recognize the holiday with civil rights events in Washington, D.C.; New York City; Newark, NJ; Cleveland, OH; Charleston, SC; Macon, GA; San Diego, CA; and many others.

Washington, DC

Rev. Sharpton will present former President Bill Clinton with the MLK Day Lifetime of Excellence in Public Service Award; Cathy Hughes, Founder and Chairperson of Urban One, with the NAN Entrepreneur & Pioneer Award; Joan Mulholland from Freedom Rider (Civil Rights Movement) with the MLK Day Peace and Freedom Award; Karine Jean-Pierre, MSNBC analyst and MoveOn.org senior advisor, with the MLK Day Visionary Award; Kenneth E. Rigmaiden, General President at IUPAT, with the MLK Day Labor Leader of the Year Award; and Aalayah Eastmond a Parkland Shooting Survivor with the MLK Day Youth Award.
