AL SHARPTON RESPONDS TO NEWS OF LATEST INDICTMENT AGAINST DONALD TRUMP
—New York, NY (June 8, 2023) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), issued the following statement in response to news of the latest indictment against Donald Trump. The former President will reportedly be indicted over his handling of classified documents after he left office in January 2021. This will mark the second indictment against Trump, who was charged in Manhattan earlier this year over hush money payments.
“Donald Trump continues to show the nation he is simply a scared man who will lie to get himself from one day to the next. He’s facing his second indictment in as many months but crowing that there’s nothing wrong with taking U.S. secrets and carelessly leaving them around. This just goes to show he never stopped being the spoiled rich kid who walked around with a sense that he was above the law. This is the same kind of entitlement he felt when he didn’t pay workers, when he lied about his properties, and when he villainized innocent Black and Brown teenagers. Trump has gone through life convinced he can break the law, but someone will be there to bail him out. Well, it looks like Icarus has finally flown too close to the sun.”
