Rev. Al Sharpton Interviews Attorney Benjamin Crump And Girlfriend Of Most Recent Victim Of Vigilante Violence, Markeis Mcglockton, Whose Death Is Being Compared To 2012 Trayvon Martin Case
—
NEW YORK (July 25, 2018) — Rev. Al Sharpton, civil rights leader and President of National Action Network (NAN) released the following statement after recent interview with civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump and the girlfriend of Markeis McGlockton, Brittany Jacobs, who was present as McGlockton was killed. Crump is providing legal assistance to the McGlockton-Jacobs family.
“Today, I interviewed Civil Rights Attorney Benjamin Crump after another senseless and unnecessary killing of an unarmed Black male, Markeis McGlockton. It is time we confront the legality of “stand your ground” laws and hold accountable these cowardly vigilantes who hide behind a ‘fear for their lives’ when it’s simply racism in its ugliest form. I will fight at every step to bring justice to the McGlockton-Jacobs family, and bring light to these issues by whatever means are necessary.”
