SATURDAY: AHEAD OF MINISTERS MARCH FOR JUSTICE, REVEREND AL SHARPTON AND LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS TO WELCOME RENOWNED HUMANITARIAN, INTERFAITH LEADER AND HEAD OF THE DRUKPA ORDER OF BUDDHISM
With one month until the historic August 28 Dream Busters March, Rev. Sharpton and His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa to highlight the importance of communities of faith uniting around the common cause of combating injustice
WHAT:
Reverend Al Sharpton, the National Action Network, New York City officials, and His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa will lead a rally to promote interfaith dialogue as the key to combatting global injustice.
The Gyalwang Drukpa is the spiritual leader of the Drukpa order of Buddhism, and a U.N. Award-winning humanitarian and interfaith leader. He has spent his life connecting unlikely communities, cultivating interfaith tolerance, and finding common ground in the pursuit of peace. Whether providing disaster relief and empowering underserved religious minorities in the most remote villages of the Himalayas, marching with local ministers in Baltimore after the death of Freddie Gray, or promoting and providing education for disadvantaged youth, he has been a staunch ally in the ongoing global fight to combat injustice.
The Gyalwang Drukpa and other speakers will highlight the August 28 Ministers March for Justice, when 1,000 ministers of all denominations will march from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial to the Department of Justice to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Trump administration accountable for a disturbing rise in hate crimes and discrimination. About the Gyalwang Drukpa
With over 30 million followers worldwide, His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa is a tireless advocate for human rights, interfaith dialogue and education, and coexistence in the Himalayas as the region faces environmental and geopolitical upheaval due to its location at the nexus of India, China, and Pakistan. Despite repeated threats to his life and his religious order, His Holiness has remained steadfast in his commitment to interfaith dialogue as the key to peace and prosperity.
