New York, NY (February 24, 2011)-Rev. Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network, salutes the decision of Lamar Outdoor advertising to pull the billboard in New York City on 6th Ave and Watts depicting an African-American girl with the disturbing tagline “The most dangerous place for African Americans is in the Womb.” According to Rev. Sharpton: “The billboard was offensive, especially during Black History Month, and I had intended to hold a press conference Friday in front of the billboard to protest the message of racial profiling and against a woman’s right to choose.”
The press conference for Friday has been cancelled.
