Statement by Rev. Al Sharpton regarding NY Governor David A. Paterson’s signing of Bill ending Stop and Frisk Records
—Jul 16, 2010
“I salute Governor Paterson for signing the bill that prevents the violation of the civil rights of New Yorkers and what may change the stop and frisk data of innocent people. National Action Network and I have called on the Governor to do so and in our last Saturday rally hosted Senator Eric Adams and Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries to rally around that point. In speaking with the Governor I was convinced he would do what was right to protect people from being put in an unfair and in our judgement unconstitutional database. I salute him for his courage and for upholding his commitment to what is fair for the people of the state of New York. “
Reverend Al Sharpton, President of National Action Network
