Statement by Dominique Sharpton on MTA Decision to Keep Student Metro Cards

“The fact that student metro cards were saved is a clear indication that the lives and welfare of our children are important to our communities and the city in which we live. It is now up to us to utilize the leverage we have to properly educate our children and utilize the minimal opportunities given to us to advance them in school, in order to ensure success. We shouldn’t look at this as a victory, but as a work in progress to now push forward to meet the many other necessary challenges that prohibit our children from gaining a proper and equal education as every other child in this country.”
