(Miami, Florida) July 24, 2012 – Bishop Victor T. Curry announces that the Reverend Al Sharpton is confirmed to speak at New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 11:00a.m. for its Empowerment Sunday.

Reverend Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will address currently seated Miami-Dade and Broward elected officials, candidates running for office, clergy and community leaders on the issues of voter registration, rule changes and the overall importance of voter participation.

NAN plans to empower voters by tackling one of the “new laws” of contention, the “early voter” option. “These new laws are meant to frighten and intimidate,” stated the League of Women Voters on Rev. Sharpton’s popular MSNBC show “Politics Nation”.

August 5th is the only Sunday for “Early Voting” before the August 14th elections!!!

Bring “Souls to the Polls”!!

Early voting is scheduled to run from August 4th thru August 11th at various locations in Miami-Dade & Broward Counties.

Bishop Victor T. Curry is the Founding Senior Pastor/Teacher of New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International and currently serves as a National Board Member of NAN. Reverend Sharpton and Bishop Curry have worked together over the years to encourage, empower and enlighten the African American community in Florida on civil and voter’s rights. This event is another building block in this powerful collaboration.
