Rev. Sharpton & NAN To Hold “Be Like King” Events in Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Including the Annual Breakfast In Washington, D.C. & The Annual Public Policy Forum In NYC

January 10, 2015 (New York, NY) — Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN) will hold national “Be Like King” events honoring and promoting the work Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the Dr. King observed holiday.

The day’s events will begin in Washington, D.C with NAN’s annual MLK Jr. breakfast. Rev. Al Sharpton will then travel to New York, NY, to host NAN’s annual King Day Public Policy forum with New York City and state politicians.

At the conclusion of the policy forum Rev. Al Sharpton along with: Eric Garner’s widow, Esaw Garner, and mother Gwen Carr; Akai Gurley’s domestic partner, Kimberly Ballinger; will lead a caravan of buses to three locations. The first stop will be at the site where Detectives Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos were killed in Brooklyn, the group will lay a wreath and say a prayer. They will then travel to Pink, Louis H. Houses where unarmed Akai Gurley was killed by NYPD, to hold a prayer vigil. The day will end with a candlelight vigil at the site where Eric Garner was killed.
