Policy Advisor and Health Equity Lead
Kyra Stephenson-Valley serves as Policy Advisor and Health Equity lead for National Action Network, one of our nation’s leading civil rights organizations founded in 1991 with over 100 chapters throughout the United States. Under the leadership of NAN Founder and President, Reverend Al Sharpton and NAN DC Bureau Chief Ebonie Riley, Kyra has advised Members of Congress, presidential candidates, and the administration on more inclusive policies with the goal of moving the National Action Network forward from “demonstration to legislation”. A Health policy expert, Kyra has testified before the New York City Council and gained recognition from national media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post and Politico.
As a DC Bureau Staffer, Kyra has been directly involved with the planning and execution of several National Action Network events including NAN’s annual Legislative and Policy Conference, NAN’s Annual King Day Celebration, NAN’s annual Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference activations, and NAN’s annual national convention. For National Action Network’s historic Commitment March on Washington, Kyra was directly responsible for National Partnerships and the March Program.
Kyra is an award-winning member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, and has been named a “5 under 25” women of impact, and has been recognized as a “30 Under 30” Caribbean-American leader.
