Occupy The Corners 2015
Peace & Blessings:
We are requesting your participation in ‘Occupy the Corners’ (OTC) in your city against violence.
The National Action Network Anti-Violence Committee of the NYC chapter (VEPIC), Street Corner Resources (SCR), NAN Youth Huddle, The Guardian Angels of Baltimore, Harlem Transformation Project, and other organizations, along with community activists, politicians and church leaders, will stand on corners in “hotspot” areas throughout their cities, engaging youth, sharing resources, and having solution-driven conversations about ways to eliminate violence.
‘Occupy the Corners’ will take place between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer months. All participating groups must complete the short application that includes the “hotspot” areas to be occupied before officially partnering in the occupy movement.
We encourage all OTC participants to keep us posted of successes, challenges and practices that proved helpful, via our Social Media page. #Occupythecorners.
It is our intention to kickoff ‘Occupy the corners’ on the first week in June, beginning on Saturday, June 06th at 4:00 PM (ET) in various locations, and continuing every Friday and Saturday in June into July 2015. By doing this we hope to begin a cycle of stronger community engagement that will thereby help to eliminate violence. We invite you to join us!
