WEDNESDAY: Prominent Chicago Clergy to Join Rev. Al Sharpton to Announce Support For Voting Rights Legislation And August 28th March On Washington

Chicago, Ill.—Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 at 10:30am CT, Reverend Al Sharpton, alongside leading Chicago clergy, will host a press conference at the Greater St. John Bible Church in Chicago, Illinois to announce the Clergy’s support of federal legislation to protect voting rights for all Americans and the March On for Voting Rights being held in cities across the country August 28 led by Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King, III, Arndrea Waters King and partnering groups. 

This announcement takes place following civil rights leaders urging the passage of critical voting rights legislation, meeting with members of Congress, President Biden, and Vice President Harris, as states attempt to pass laws that restrict access to the ballot box.

National Action Network, the Drum Major Institute, March On, Future Coalition, and SEIU announced “March On for Voting Rights”, a mass mobilization that will take place on August 28, 2021, the 58th anniversary of Dr. King’s peaceful and historic March On Washington—this time, to demand that King’s “I Have a Dream” vision be deferred no longer. More information on the march is available by visiting: https://marchonforvotingrights.org/.
