Rev. Al Sharpton to deliver Commencement Addresses, receive Honorary Degrees at Tennessee HBCUs

May 02, 2019

Civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver the commencement addresses at two Historically Black Colleges in Tennessee, Tennessee State University and Fisk University. Rev Al. Sharpton will also receive Honorary degrees from both institutions. The commencement remarks come on the heels of April’s National Action Network (NAN) Annual Convention, which hosted a dozen presidential contenders in New York to discuss their agenda for the civil rights community. Sharpton founded NAN, one of the largest civil rights organizations in the country, in 1991 to further the legacy and vision of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
