Rev. Al Sharpton in Conversation with Alicia Garza, Co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Movement

(New York, NY) — On October 1st, Rev. Sharpton talked to Alicia Garza about the release of his new book, “Rise Up: Confronting a Country at the Crossroads”.

The conversation was part of the Dominican University of California’s Leadership Lecture Series in partnership with Book Passage. The discussion was opened by Denise Lucy, a professor, the executive director of the Institute of Leadership Studies, and formal introductions were made by Jake Miller of Fairview Capital Investment Management.

In Rise Up, Reverend Sharpton revisits the highlights of the Obama administration, the 2016 election and Trump’s subsequent hold on the GOP, and draws on his decades-long experience with other key players in politics and activism, including Shirley Chisholm, Hillary Clinton, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and more.
