Decision comes amid increase in gun violence, mass shootings across the country

New York, NY (Thursday, June 23, 2022) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision today to strike down New York’s limits on carrying a gun outside of the home.

“The Supreme Court decision on carrying a gun in New York is devastating and potentially dangerous. This ruling could not have come at a worse time, as we have been working to de-escalate gun violence in the city.
