NAN Georgia Chapter Leads Peaceful Rally for the Removal of Confederate Statue

Aug 10, 2020

(Augusta, GA) — The NAN Georgia Chapter – under the leadership of Morris Porter – led a peaceful rally to urge for the removal of the Confederate Statue from downtown Augusta.

On the symbolism of our monuments, Porter says, “When I bring my children down here to see downtown Augusta, we have to pass by this and this is one of the largest things out here, the largest picture I don’t want to have to tell them about the dark past Augusta has or our nation has”.

The rally follows an executive order made by Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis on Friday to review and develop recommendations for what to do about the city’s Confederate monuments – evidence of progress.
