PLACE: At the steps of St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church, 2900 Newkirk Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226
PARTICIPANTS: Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network, Office of Mayor Bill de Blasio, Office of Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Office of Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn (AD-42), Council Member Farah N. Louis (CD-45), Democratic nominee for Council, Rita Joseph (CD-40), City and State leaders, community organizations, and clergy.
SUMMARY: Faith, community and government leaders of New York City come together in solidarity for a faith vigil remembering the victims of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck Haiti over the weekend. The event serves to bring awareness to the crisis in Haiti, bring hope to the New York Haitian-American community through prayer, and bring aid to the people of Haiti by streamlining relief efforts.
