Elected Officials & Dignitaries To Visit NAN’s Headquarters To Celebrate Rev. Al Sharpton’s Birthday

Senator Chuck Schumer, Mayor Bill de Blasio, and Congressmembers Adriano Espaillat and Carolyn Maloney Among More Than Two Dozen Elected Officials, and Faith and Community Leaders Celebrating Rev. Sharpton

New York, NY (October 2, 2020) — National Action Network (NAN) will hold a special weekly rally Saturday, October 3rd to celebrate the birthday of civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of NAN. He’ll be surrounded by elected officials, faith leaders, community officials, and other dignitaries who will pay tributes in his honor.

The honorable elected officials are Senator Chuck Schumer, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Rep. Adriano Espaillat, and Rep. Carolyn Maloney. State Senators Kevin Parker, John Liu, and Brian Benjamin. NYS Assemblymembers Latrice Walker, Nathalia Fernandez, Felix Ortiz, and Al Taylor. Borough Presidents Eric Adams, Gale Brewer, and Ruben Diaz, Jr. NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer. City Councilmembers Andy King, Robert Cornegy, and Carlina Rivera.

Faith leaders include Rev. Adolphus Lacey, Senior Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn; Rev. Reginald Bachus, Associate Pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem; Rev. Joseph Jones, Faith-Based Coordinator for Programs and Initiatives at NYC Commission on Human Rights; Rev. Malcolm Byrd, Senior Pastor Mother of A.M.E Zion in Harlem; Rev. Dr. Johnnie Green, NAN National Board Member, Senior Pastor of Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem and President of MPAC; and Bishop Mitchell Taylor, Senior Pastor of Cathedral of Hope international and President of Urban Upbound;

Hazel Dukes, President of the NAACP New York State Conference; Michael J. Garner, MBA, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority; Jeff Maddrey, NYPD Chief of Community Affairs; Maya Wiley, civil rights attorney; Ray McGuire, Vice Chairman of Citigroup Inc.; and Bertha Lewis, CEO of The Black Institute; and Mike Tucker, President of the Lay Down the Guns Foundation will also visit NAN’s House of Worship to celebrate Rev.
