LOCAL INITIATIVES NAN Western Region and NAN Sacramento along with a coalition of civil rights groups, Democratic clubs and Party delegates, joined the California Democratic Party Black Caucus in successfully advocating for changes to the 2022 California Democratic Party Platform to prioritize Black student achievement. https://sacobserver.com/2022/03/california-democratic-party-adopts-platform-language-prioritizing-black-student-achievement/ LOCAL INITIATIVES Stephon A. Clark College Prep Middle is now accepting enrollment for 6th grade. The school will be co-located on the campus of Tecoy Porter College Prep in Meadowview beginning August 2022.  Enroll now, spaces are limited to 32 students in the inaugural 6th grade class.  Stephon A. Clark College Prep Middle School is a tuition-free public charter school, open to all and focused on closing the African American achievement gap by preparing kids for college. https://www.fortuneschool.us/apps/pages/enroll/ Assembly Bill 2774 (Weber) AB 2774 (Weber) had been introduced to add Black students to the K-12 Local Control Funding Formula which could lead to an estimated $400 million in new resources for all public schools serving Black students along with additional accountability for the education of Black children through Local Control Accountability Plans. AB 2774 is authored by Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber and sponsored by Rex and Margaret Fortune School of Education. The NAN Sacramento Board voted to be added as a co-sponsor to the bill at its Mach 8, 2022 board meeting.
