REV. AL SHARPTON’S STATEMENT ON BK DISTRICT ATTORNEY KEN THOMPSON’S ANNOUNCEMENT THAT HE WILL STEP ASIDE TO FIGHT CANCER

Tomorrow, National Action Network will hold a prayer vigil outside DA Thompson’s office

October 4 2016 – (New York, NY) Rev. Al Sharpton, President and Founder of National Action Network (NAN), released this statement following Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson’s announcement that he was diagnosed with cancer:

“I am stunned at the announcement from DA Thompson that he is battling cancer, and we stand with him as he takes on this fight. DA Thompson and I work together closely on criminal justice issues. We are particularly proud of the DA’s work, along with NAN, to bring an indictment in the case of Chanel Petro Nixon’s killing – we applauded his diligence in the quest to bring justice to her family. During the DA’s absence we hope the leadership in his office will continue to uphold his steadfast commitment to criminal justice reform. We wish DA Thompson a speedy and complete recovery.”

What: Prayer Vigil led by Kirsten John Foy, NAN’s Northeast Regional Director and other clergy and elected officials and community leaders.

When: Tomorrow, October 5th

11 a.m.

Where: 350 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY
