Community Leaders to Stand in Solidarity for Noel Carter
The Fight Back Coalition – a community partnership between National Action Network Central Florida Chapter, Advocacy, Action & Accountability Alliance, Women of Color Leadership Coalition, Community Empowerment Partnership, Believers Outreach Ministries in solidarity with other Civic and Civil Rights Organization along with the families of victims of excessive force by Orlando Police Department – will hold a press conference outside Orange County Courthouse on Monday, August 15th at 12 Noon to mark the beginning of the controversial Noel Carter Case.
Noel Carter was beaten, kicked and tased by OPD officers who were moonlighting for the Venue 578 downtown. Sadly, Carter is not Orlando’s first case of excessive force – there is a City of Orlando problem with excessive force and police brutality. The Orlando police brutality and excessive force video has now received over 5,500 views online.
Yet State Attorney Jeff Ashton, who is busy running for re-election, appears to have made political deals with Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando Police Department to charge Noel Carter, while not charging any officers involved.
WHAT: Call for Justice for Noel Carter and Call for an End to Orlando’s Police
Brutality and Excessive Force

“The ongoing failures with the Orlando Police Department are alarming and unacceptable,” said Lawanna Gelzer, President of the National Action Network Central Florida Chapter. “The community demands accountability, and now it is clear that must start from the top.”
