Blight Removal and Redevelopment recommendations

Blighted properties recommended for removal/clearing
- 1683 Third Street, 1592 Third Street, 1569Third Street
- The properties third and Violet street to the dead end of Violet Street
- 1671 Houston Avenue, 1665 Houston Avenue
- 451 Giles Street property that extends to Bishop John L Cotton Way, The house and land corner of Giles and Third on both sides of the street
Redevelopment of this cleared area can be accomplished through a partnership with Overcoming Church of God Faith Temple, Inc.
- The church will use part of the property for a parking lot for the J.L. Cotton Fellowship Hall
- The property on the corner of Giles and Third Street along with the property on Violet Street can be used for the development of senior housing.
- Expanding the church sanctuary that will require the need for more parking spaces.

Blighted properties recommended for removal/clearing
The property in front of the Ally resident on Forest Avenue West has been on the removal list since 2007. The letter is still posted in front of the property.
- Properties located on Forest Avenue West that have been identified and a list was given to Mr. Charles Coney and Commissioner Al Tillman
- There are also three apartment complexes that have burned but have not been cleaned up that needs to be removed.
- Redevelopment of this cleared area can be accomplished through
a partnership with Habitat for Humanity. There are already two habitat houses on this street across from three blighted properties
- The apartments could possibly be redeveloped by partnering with a private real estate investor.
NAN members Antonio Ross Lewis and His Mother Frankie Lewis continue the work in South Macon through their Community Organization SMART, Inc. The city has given them the land from five demolished houses to build a playground, community center for the Children in the south Macon Area.
Mobilization Committee for National Convention: Five members of the Middle GA Chapter worked with the team, Frankie Lewis, Della Golden, Maria Bryant, Jackie Fuller and Sarah Hunt, Chaired the National Committee.
Sarah Hunt and Kimberlyn Carter attended the NAN convention in New York, April 26 – 19, 2017. Plans are on the way for the Middle GA NAN Conference, August 3, 4, 5, 2017. Accompanying Hunt was the Thomas County NAN Chapter President Minister Brenda Daniels.

Conference Planning Committee meetings are scheduled for May 5, May 11, 30, 2017.
Middle Ga Chapter President Sarah Hunt served on the committee for the redesigning of the Rosa Park Square and new designs have been presented to the citizens committee for approval. They were Approved. Commissioner Elaine Lucas, and Commission Schlinger who are members of NAN Middle GA are working to have the Park renamed. Rosa Parks Memorial Square and make it an Alcoholic beverage free park.
