NATIONAL ACTION NETWORK (NAN) TO CO-SPONSOR WATER DELIVERY TO JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI AMID ONGOING WATER CRISIS
—
New York, NY (Friday, September 9, 2022) – The National Action Network (NAN) – in partnership with West Hunter Baptist Church and 1840 WAOK radio in Atlanta – will sponsor a truck delivery of water to residents of Jackson, Mississippi. The 18-wheel truck will depart Atlanta today for the Mississippi capital. Residents have been without quality water since late August, unable to even brush their teeth or flush toilets, following a flood at a water treatment facility.
NAN will also be working with The Word Church, Pastor Rodrick Richardson of Jackson, Mississippi, Attorney Carlos Moore, and Working Together Jackson to sponsor the water drive. Water will be available for pick up at: 5305 Executive Place, Jackson, MS 39306.
“The Jackson water crisis is an abominable failure for Black residents already marginalized for generations,” said Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of NAN. “The National Action Network and its partners are ready to deliver relief for the people of Jackson, as we continue to fight for justice over the blatant disregard by the State to keep Black Mississippians safe and healthy.”
