CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER REV. AL SHARPTON ISSUES STATEMENT ON THE CREATION OF A WARNER BROS DISCOVERY BOARD
—
“I commend Warner Bros Discovery for taking first steps to create a board that is reflective of leaders across diverse sectors. We are hopeful that they will be even more intentional by adding Latino representation and by pushing for the balance of the board to be inclusive of the needs and values of all people of color. NAN and I have worked with some members of the board, including Debra Lee, and her work embodies the values of inclusion. We look forward to her input, and the input of others, as it relates to strengthening relationships in communities of color. We must continue to be diligent in this season and be intolerant of corporate drive-by’s — when companies do not embrace diversity in programmatic and long-term ways. In this case, the Warner Bros Discovery board is a start in the right direction, and we will push them to continue to strengthen the board.”
