Rev. Al Sharpton Commercial to Begin Airing in New York on National Cable Television Stations to Get Out the Vote
—New York, NY – With a critical election and much at stake in the City of New York, Civil Rights Leader Reverend Al Sharpton will be featured in a commercial that will begin airing on Tuesday, June 15th in New York, and national stations. Watch the commercial here. Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network are joining Show Up, Turn Out, a 501c(4) organization dedicated to increasing voter turnout, to promote voter participation through a new 30-second spot airing on MSNBC, CNN and NY1 across New York City cable systems, as well as digitally across social, display, YouTube and OTT platforms. Reverend Sharpton’s spot will also be hosted on Show Up, Turn Out’s social media channels @showupturnout. Reverend Sharpton’s critical partnership comes at a time where the stakes for communities across the five boroughs could not be higher.
Early voting has already begun in New York City and with the election on Tuesday, June 22nd, it is key for voters in all communities to show up and have their voices heard. After the historic turnout in the 2020 presidential election, there are concerns that levels of voter participation could fall, especially in historically marginalized communities. Show Up, Turn Out and Reverend Sharpton’s partnership is playing a key role in activating those who might otherwise stay home on June 22nd.
The addition of ranked-choice voting coupled with early voting have made this election particularly important. Reverend Sharpton and Show Up, Turn Out have been working to educate voters on the ranked-choice voting process, and now, just a little over a week from election day, want that message heard loud and clear.
“Now is the moment, New York City, to have your voice heard, to show up, and turn out,” Reverend Sharpton said. “With ranked-choice voting it is more important than ever to understand the process.”
